They're dumping several million dollars into this project, and despite the best intentions to remain faithful to the books they'll always follow the marketing hounds. Movies are a business, and no movie studio stays in business by staying true to the thousands of hard-core fans who might be concerned about faithful renditions. It'll be the millions of flash & light show fans who'll dish out cash so they don't have to read the books that they'll be making this movie for. Pity, isn't it...
