: Where is the Hill Folk called sorcerous??? (I must have missed : that). I do not beleive that Dłnedain would be living in the : Angle, I think there would be too large a probability of : discovery by Orks, Hillfolk, or Dunlendings spreading north. Well, to answer your question, the use of sorcery is attested in "The Heirs of Elendil" in THE PEOPLES OF MIDDLE-EARTH. But I don't believe Orcs or Dunlendings could find their ways (easily) to the Angle. In fact, I find it highly doubtful the Dunlendings ventured north. : I think it rather more likely that some would have lived fairly : close to the elves of Imladris and possibly form part of the : community there, as well as around the Nenuial and on the : border with Lindon. Well, Imladris is pretty close to the Angle, but Nenuial is too close to the Shire to comply with Tolkien's statement in "At the Sign of the Prancing Pony" that "in those days no other Men had settled dwellings so far west, or within a hundred leagues of the Shire." And Tolkien does go on to say that "in the wild lands beyond Bree there were mysterious wanderers....They roamed at will southwards, and eastwards even as far as the Misty Mountains; but they were now few and rarely seen". Since the Hobbits had entered Bree from the west, "the wild lands beyond Bree" seems to imply lands in the east. : NT
