THE SILMARILLION is wrong, and yes, it IS a mistake by Christopher Tolkien. He explains the whole genealogy in depth in THE PEOPLES OF MIDDLE-EARTH. It's way too long for even me to cite here, I'm afraid. I'm working on a Web site for the Final Eldarin Genealogy (to be based on an article I posted to the news groups a long time ago), but it's not a priority for me. I don't know when I'll get it up on Xenite.Org, but it should show up some day.
