: I think its in UT where it's pointed out that its very difficult for the Nazgul to travel incognito because cut a swath of fear and horror wherever they go. If they were in the Inn, it would have been obvious. : Aragorn's words seem to be telling us it was Bill Ferny et al: "They will drive these wretches to some evil work: Ferny, and some of the strangers, and maybe, the gatekeeper too." : Russ Since the nazgul weapon of fear was, as stated by Tolkein, their primary weapon, wouldn't it be reasonable to assume that they could dampen this weapon, or not use it at all. They obviously had some fear of physical attack, since they could be driven off, so it would therefor make sense for them to go forth with the weapon blazing as brightly as possible. But in the case of the attack on the inn, it is conceivable that they chose not to "draw" that weapon in order to prevent the residents from knowing they were present. -RobRoy
