It was their fiefdom under Gil-galad who was Galadriel's second cousin (or 'aunt' according to a more Mediterranean definition). It remains a mystery, at least to me, as to why they would want to leave. The area was pretty much isolated from the vicissitudes of ME (I am not sure whether Sauron reached Harlindon in his SA invasion of Eriador). They abandoned this peaceful land to establish an oasis of ancient Elfdom on the doorstep of a Balrog? It makes no sense. : Cheers : Berembrôg Basicly Galadriel left Harlindon to establish a realm of her own! Its statet in the Silmarillion the this was the main force that drove her to join the exiles, and not stay/return with her father. Cheers Telchar
