But he knows : now that it has not perished, that it has been found." That exchange occurred after Gandalf returned from Dol Guldur the second time. He didn't discover the Necromancer's true identity until the 29th century, around the year 2850. Sauron apparently learned the Ring had NOT been destroyed sometime between 2463 (the year Deagol found the Ring) and 2850, the year Gandalf learned the Necromancer was Sauron returned, and that he was seeking for news of the Heirs of Isildur and the Ring.
