We're just speculating, of course, but I think this makes sense. And it makes me wonder how Elladan and Elrohir felt as well (especially about the death of their sister, and the loss of luster of Rivendell and Lorien). I think Elladan and Elrohir may have left earlier than Arwen's death, but its just speculation. Celeborn was quite the Elven Nationalist - he was really hacked off about the Balrog incident when the Fellowship arrived in Lorien 'Not in my back yard matey' springs to mind. I often wonder if JRRT had a special fate in mind for Celeborn, I wonder the same about Maglor (but that is an entirely different chestnut). Then agin, Celeborn and the oh so fantastic (not) Galadriel had a fairly strange relationship - they were apart for quite some time during their long marriage (poor elves, thousands of years of chore sharing) I think Celeborn would have been fairly disgruntled at the loss of Elven glory, but he was more the 'back to nature, tree loving elf', so I guess he could handle staying in M-E moreso than the Noldor - he does use the word 'Doom' though, like he knows whats in store for him, I mean, not just the G-girl going, but something alittle darker he will be facing alone??
