Meneldur has changed his name to Maglor. I also miss the guys you're mentioning Maglor : Hey, you forgot me! (Dave C-Q) ;) : : : : I know people come and go but it seems there was a sudden : mass leaving. Did I miss something? I looked in the archives : but couldn't find anything there to explain it. Was it just : coincidence or what? : : : : -Curious Tolkien Fan : : : I've wondered the same at times, but I assume that they've : lost interest and/or found another board. Maybe they left when : Xenite.Org moved, or maybe they've been busy, or maybe they : haven't thought of anything to post. I don't know. : : People tend to disappear and suddenly reappear around here. : Galadriel has reappeared after a long absence. Perhaps, like you, : they read the messages and decide that they have nothing to : contribute to the discussion. Like you, they were here but we : never saw them. Then again, they may be on secret mission for the : Council. : I've been one of the recent non-posters. I guess I've gone into : "lurk mode" if you will. But I haven't even been lurking all that : consistently. Some discussions I have found interesting, but I : found that others had basically said what I was going to say. : Others I found boring or self-evident. Others I wanted to respond : to, but haven't had the time. (E.g., I had written part of a : large response to the question about hostilities between elves : and dwarves, and particularly between Legolas and Gimli... i.e., : I disagreed with Michael... but I found I didn't have the time to : research a proper response. So I deleted my work and didn't post : anything.) And for some discussions, I unfortunately haven't even : had the time to read them. : Why have I been so busy? Mostly it's work. (How I long for a : world where we all have the time to discuss literature and : mythology and philosophy at our leisure!) But it's also that I'm : an activist in the "real world." I've been recently very busy : with fighting for a moratorium on the death penalty, and in : mobilizing people for the April 16th demo against the World Bank : and IMF in Washington DC. : In a way, I feel like Gandalf at times. Working ceaselessly to : unite the various enemies of our own "dark lord"... which is why : my desktop image on my computer is John Howe's painting of : Gandalf on the move (9walking through a meadow on some errand, : with a heavy burden on his back and determination in his face). : So anyway, that's where I've been. Probably more than anyone
