: Well, it was a jest of course... Right guys, lets get a few things down here 1) It is the NOLDOR who pine most for Valinor, the Sindar and Falathrim are drawn there and the Avari do not feel the draw of Valinor until they see the sea, so thats point 1 2) I never said that the elves would stay and hold off time, I said it was POSSIBLE, in fact, part of the 'lost' ring lore may be the only way that the secluded elven refuges like Mirkwood and Lindon survived in the domination of men 3) The domination of men implies that men are dominant, NOT that they are the only remaining species. 4) Beginning F.A is the BEGINNING of the domination of men. It had taken 7000+ years to start and thousands more would pass before they were totally dominant...... 5) We do not know for certain what happened in the Fourth age and therefore to write off possibilities is ludicrous - it is POSSIBLE the fading bands of elves and others used facets of lost ring lore to protect themselves from the emerging dominance of men 6) Technology and magic....... Magic may be forgotten, it is not lost, it can be refound or remembered Therefore I rest my case - it's possible in the fourth age, a Sindar or Silvan of ecxceptional intelligence might have refound the ability to ward off the effects of time for a while and preserve those elves who did not wish to go to Valinor.....
