: : snip : : :Is it just me? : : :Or are there other people out there, still restricted by their :mid 1900s phone lines??

: : I live in 'Shlomo land', my line was made back in '48.

: : :We're in the year 2000! Cable modems should be made free for :all to enjoy...

: ouch!

: That brings up an interesting point... : Just how much do you guys pay?? : In Wellington (The ISP capital of the world), we have the most internet connection rate per capita in the world. As a result, we have fairly cheap connections. I personally pay $30 for 250 hours. That's about US$15... : One company offers $35 (US$18) for unlimited, but we're looking at 32K connection speeds there. : Cable modems are quite expensive here, but overall, normal hoursehold connections are damn good. : And local calls are free........ (Our flat is paying $80 (US$40) for two phone lines, plus the 250 hours of net connection (usually hits about 50K/sec).

: Anywya, how much does it cost elsewhere in this world?

: Gandalf : : We also have to pay our annual wage for a local call here.

Local calls cost around 10 ag/m, overseas around 80ag/m (1 cent = 4 ag), my ISP (Netvision) costs 200 shequels/month (4NIS:$1) for 20 hours of 56K connection. It is one of the better deals around.
