There were actually closer to 200 Orcs at the end (not counting "Mauhur and his lads"), but they had also been demoralized for the most part by the long pursuit, and they HAD just run across northern Rohan for two or three days. Even Orcs have to get tired some time. I would say that the Battles of the Fords of Isen give a better account of how well the Orcs stood up against the Rohirrim. It is easy for us to remember the victories over the Orcs, but there were also may battles where the Orcs held the field of slaughter.
