Generally, one can know the major players. But, one cannot know the facial expressions of, say, Lord Wellington at Waterloo. One can narrate that detail, though. : On the other hand, I do believe that, while it is easier to film the concrete details of an event from a fictional account rather than of an historical event, one does not have to deal with symbolism and themes in use in fiction when one is filming history. In that sense, fiction is far harder to portray accurately. : -Olorin I agree. It sounds like we are coming to a conclusion that neither the filming of historical events nor the tranfer of text to film is easier to film then the other. I think this is especially true of the filming of Tolkien. -RR
