: : : Two quotes from 'The Heirs of Elendil': : : : "The Third age ended ... and the descendants of Elessar : : : THROUGH [emp. mine] Arwen became also heirs of the elf-realms : : : of the westlands."

: : : "He wedded Arwen Undomiel, daughter of Elrond. His descendants : : : became thus heirs of the Numenorean realms, and of Luthien and : : : the Elf-kingdoms of the West."

: : That's a toughie, though Aragorn did not become High King of the Elves of the West of High King of the Noldor-in-Exile (nor Eldarion, from what I can tell).

: True. The text says Aragorn's descendants because of Arwen.(Of Eldarion to little is said to draw any firm conclusions). However any such titles would be insubstantial anyways. The Noldor were no longer Exiles. The Beleriandic Kingdoms were drowned. The Elves of the West were largely gone and their kingdoms virtually defunct. But the suggestion is quite thought provoking.

He certainly did not become High King of the Noldor as they had all left Middle-Earth by the first Year of the Fouth Age The Kings of the Reunited Kingdom would have had 'honorary' chieftainship of the remaining Sindar and Silvan elves of the Lindon/Rivendell base, no doubt these elves technically ran their own affairs. Mirkwood was ruled in the North by Thranduil, and in the South by Celeborn and his sucessors - and would NOT have been in any way under the hegenomy of the Telcontari - they remained independant Elf kingdoms.
