There was a fire breathing dino... maybe he crossed one of them with a teredactle? : Beren Valthôl : I think it says in the Appendix to LoTR that trolls were dumb like animals before Morgoth gave them some limitied intellegence and made them evil. As for the dragons IMHO there were always "dragons." There are mentions in Tolkien's works of cold-drakes. This is just conjecture but what if Cold Drakes were primitive dragons that Morgoth altered in order to increase their strength, and also gave them wisdom (souls??). Flying dragons were just *upgraded* dragons. This is all my very humble opinion. Perhaps one of the loremasters could help us out? Thorin
