i used to not like Boromir coz of what happened with Frodo.. but i recently read "The treason of Isengard" and now i am sure that Boromir was more then not just himself.. i think it was all the ring.. sure the ring might have used his own desire to make Gondor succed in the War against Sauron.. but it is completly out of character.. not the ring bending its his character. : Beren Valthôl I agree completely. Boromir in my opinion fits the mold of a tragic hero. Pride is his flaw, and the Ring exploits it. Unlike Saruman, however, Boromir achieves redemption through his sacrifice in trying to protect Merry and Pippin. Had he not fallen, I think that his guilt would have turned him into a character much like Turin-doomed always to bring sorrow onto himself and those around him through his ill-fated actions.
