: : snip

: : :If I ever thought of reading Pratchett, forget it.

: : Yeah, I came to the same conclusion. I'm not familiar with his work, but if it's as haphazardly thrown together as this article was, I'll pass. It's not so much that he was critical of Tolkien but that he didn't bother to check his facts before publication.

: : Okai, I am a diehard Tolkien fan, and will not hear anything said against Lord of the Rings, but everyone is entitled to their opinion.

: I have read, and own every one of Pratchett's books, and i love his humour.

: Having said all that, it's obvious what the point of this posting is.

: You shouldn't really judge his works on one artical he has written that "flames" Tolkien.

: Perhaps he is a great writer, and you will never find out, simply because as a reader, he does not like Tolkien?

: Come on guys, get over it. not everyone likes Tolkien (unfortunately). However, it makes little sense to boycott someone simply because he or she expresses those views.

: Gandalf

As I stated, my decision not to peruse Pratchett is not related to his views on Tolkien. The article in the Post was poorly written and researched. Not too long ago, you and I disagreed on the nature of the Three Rings. Although I did not agree with your conclusions, (nor you with mine) you clearly thought out your position and defended your arguments eloquently. In contrast, Mr Pratchett seemed to just throw some comments together in order to get a byline. My conclusion was that if a professional writer was capable of publishing such a slapdash article, then his other works are probably not worth my time.
