That is the rejected timeline, the one where Gil-galad was Fingon's son. Your point about Gil-galad escaping from the fall of Nargothrond is good, but I don't believe Tolkien would have had Gil-galad sent to Cirdan. : My second comment deals with the extent of the Sindarn : migration from Lindon. I think you overstate it. The Doraith : Sindar were practically nonexistant by the beginning of the : Second Age. The two sacks of Doriath and the sack of the : Havens of Sirion effectively decimated them. Thus, I don't : think we're really talking about a lot of Doriathrim who were : shaking the dust of Lindon off their feet. It's stated in : the LOTR Appendix that the Sindarin component of the largely : Avarin Silvan realms of Greenwood and Lorien was small. There were other realms which eventually disappeared, and there were also Sindar living in Eriador. Remember, Sauron overran many lands. And I tried to show that only the Doriathrim had a reason to want to leave Lindon. : The Sindar of Lindon who lived in South Lindon were not : intermingled with the Noldor who lived in North Lindon. The : hated Feanoreans were off with Celebrimbor building Hollin and : Ost-in-Edhil. They had one of their own, Celeborn, as their : immediate lord. Maybe. Celeborn was certainly lord of Harlindon for a while, but we don't know where the Noldor all were. At the very least, I'm pretty sure Galadriel would have lived in Harlindon with Celeborn, and I get the impression there were at least a few Noldor who followed her around.
