Looking it up they have only appeared in The Evil Dead movie(s), the first one and possibly the second. But no Xena.

Yeah, they were "Fake Shemps" - i.e. anyone who happened to be within a hundred yards of the Tapert, Campbell or Raimi households when they needed someone to fill in for a close-up of a hand, a foot, or the back of a head wearing a look-alike wig. -

Yeah, couple blocks away from where I grew up in NJ. There where a couple of kids that use to make movies{8mm ones} in the area. Plastic monsters in front of the lens, people running in the back ground. Oh they had a future alright. -

"Fake shemp" refers to old Three Stooges shorts from the 1950's. To save money, they'd shoot several at once, using available sets on the Columbia backlot, and often splice in stock footage after the fact. When eldest brother Shemp Howard died, there were four shorts left unfinished. So they ended up getting his stunt double (who really looked nothing like him at all) to fill in in long shots - there would be an unexplained bucket that would suddenly fall on "Shemp's" head, obscuring his features, or there'd be a reason for him to put on a mask, or you'd see him from the back only, as Moe says "Shemp - go down to the basement and look for clues!" This was so stupid and obvious that even Sam Bruce and Josh recognized that it was just a fake Shemp when they were like 10 years old.
So years later, anytime they had someone double for someone else, he/she was billed as a "Fake Shemp."
(When Bruce did the voice of Jean-Claude the parrot on "Jack of All Trades," he was credited as "Shemp Wooley." ) -

Yeah, there's an extra level of in-joke going on there that I don't entirely get....because "Shemp Wooley" sounds very much like Sheb Wooley, an actor and singer of such novelty songs as "Purple People Eater." That song was a major hit the summer that Bruce and Josh Becker were born... as was "Witch Doctor," which featured the "Oo ee, oo ah ah, ting tang, walla walla bing bang" lyric, which turned up on "Jack" as a native tribe called the Walla Walla Bing Bangs... it's something that Bruce clearly finds hilarious (possibly those songs topped the charts the day he was born or something...)

They're family members of Rob Tapert, aka the creator/producer/occasional writer/director of Xena (and Lucy's husband.) Probably little sisters or cousins - they're listed in the credits of "The Evil Dead," so I imagine someone just wondered if they'd ever turned up on XWP. -
