I am attending this year's Boskone. The biggest difference is I don't have to worry about Winter Travel. (Also no packing, stopping mail, nor watering the plants.)
The biggest down-side is spending many hours sitting in my computer chair. it is NOT as good as the one that I left behind when I retired. There, also, isn't a chance to get Author/Artist autographs.
So far I've taken lots of notes for a reading list. Anything from Invisible Libraries to a 24 hour Book store. (See Below)
What goes on are the usual Readings and KaffeeKlatches (KK), and convention-suite-snack bar discussions.
There are lots of panels, I've got about 15 on my list. There is a half hour between panels. AND they are recording the panels (though not KK nor readings).
I was able to scan through the Art show split between a couple of those breaks, as well as the usual meals.
In the panel on Simple Magics, I attended at 19:00 yesterday, I brought a glass of wine. Alan Dean Foster was able to get up and pluck a book off his shelves, to show the title that he had just mentioned. Tamora Pierce and Garth Nix were also in attendance, though the "close caption" had problems with Garth's accent. I will have to start reading Sarah Beth Durst.
There was a WHOLE SEPARATE conversation going on in the Chat. Fast paced, and often providing the titles and authors mentioned during the panel.
At 10:00 Saturday, I skipped out of 'The Appeal of Unappealing Characters' about half way through (recorded & I will go back Monday) to go to the Reading by Sharon Lee and Steve Miller. They were reading from TRADER'S LEAP, a book that I helped proof-read, and got there just in time for Sharon to read the "meet cute" of two of my favorite characters (for you reading Liaden books - Shan yos'Galen & Trader Carsens-deNobli - sorry for any bad spelling.)
I'll be sitting for Sunday panels at 10, 11:30, 13:00, 14:30 and 16:00. The last panel will be 'Saving the World by Dinner Time."
The panels, along with the chats were recorded, and I probably will go back to them on Monday.
There is still a day of panels, art show, fan tables & dealers if you want to join.

So off now to take my normal morning walk. I'll bring my crochet to the computer room. [I finished a lap blanket & a hat yesterday.] I've got a pitcher of mint tea made, and lunch & dinner all.... Oh wait I need to pull a frozen dinner out.
