Howdy. I'm fairly new here... I actually did a search on some kinda sci-fi literature board to post this at, and came across this wicked cool place. :bug: I just finished the first book in Bill's Quest For Tomorrow series, and recently was just reviewing some genetics stuff I found in my biology book for school. Genotypes. I see them defined as two-letter sets that represent the alleles (genes) an organism possesses for a certain trait. I assumed, on reading Delta Search, that the mandatory-ness for Jim's parents' genotypes was to refer his genetic ability as of how he would do in the Space Academy. But, as genotypes are two-letter sets that represent someone's genes, wouldn't Jim, on breaking into his father's records and finding his genotypes, have seen that not one of the two-letter representations were identical to his? In other words, in order for Jim to be Carl Endicott's son, he would have to have one of his two letters making his genotype. When Jim sent his father's genotype to the Space Academy, did he not see that his and his father's genotypes didn't match his own at all? Who messed up in their homework, me or Mr. Shatner?
Sorry for any caused confusion... I'm a geek of real science as I am fictional.
