I always thought this character was as prejudice as the Russians who pogrom his family the way he was hesitant with the Russian dancer and his third daughter marriage to a Russian Gentile peasant. I always wanted to know what would happened to him and his family when he starts living in America with non - Jewish and Russian people.

Yep, that's the story of America right there. To my knowledge the author didn't write other stories about Tevye in NYC, but plenty about the immigrant experience. My guess is that he would have remained a cranky yet loveable old isolationist, and would have resisted learning English - but his descendants would have thrived and prospered.

My wife will be sad to hear this. She loved his performance in Fiddler on the Roof. She still watches the movie every year.
