I heard Blizzard is having trouble with its warcraft series. Maybe it is because of the new update to their game that feature pandas. I heard also Nintendo is losing money on its stock and Sega is in trouble,too.

Well, according to this Red Orbit article their subscriber base has dropped from 12 million in 2010 to fewer than 8 million today. That does sort of sound like trouble in River City with a Capital "T". -

As someone working in the industry for more than a decade, I can tell you that these stories come and go. Warcraft is a product, not a company. Blizzard has already diversified with its Hearthstones game with both creates a new user base and drives people back to Warcraft. Like any industry, companies come and go. There are lots of game companies that were top of the pack 20 years ago that haven't been around for a while. -

Let's not forget that World of Warcraft is ten years old, so it's had a very good lifespan. The most recent update also resulted in a big return in users, at least initially.
As far as the industry as a whole, I think it's doing just fine. The people who predict mobile gaming (that is, on phones and tablets) destroying the market for dedicated gaming machines are out of their minds.

Well, they're doing amazing. Not all of them, but when they hit, they hit BIG. That's why so many people are making games for phone and tablets. Chasing the big money, plain and simple.
Most of of them are structured exactly the same. They're free to download, but the only way to progress in a timely manner is to spend tons of money. And by tons, I mean hundreds. There are some that are like normal games, where you just buy them and play through, but they're few and far between.
The reality is that it's a different market, which seems to get lost in the overall discussion far too often. There's some crossover, of course, but all those people playing Candy Crush probably aren't playing Skyrim or Halo when they get home. -

I have read some speculation that smart device manufacturers are working on technology to produce 3-D projections (or something like that). A recent disclosure of an actual "micro-laser" approach to creating 3-D images may spur this research so that we see something in 3-5 years.
What I would like to see is a combination of a 3-D projection from a small device with a Kinect-like ability to sense motion so that you can do a Tony Stark and move stuff around on your virtual gaming board/world/whatever. Get rid of the need for a mouse or pointer device altogether.
That would be an interesting gaming experience. It would force both the programmers and the players to think differently. -

Potentially, yes, but the latest and greatest gimmicks don't always hit. For example, I get a big kick out of the arrogance coming out of Oculus, especially after Facebook bought them out. There's no indication that the average gamer wants anything to do with VR, even if it works. If anything, there's evidence that people aren't interested in superfluous, expensive hardware--Kinect 2.0 was a perfect example of that. -
