I have been trying all day to get over to the forums to post something and catch up on discussions. The server went down a couple of times and I had to work on some posts and yada yada yada.
Late last night I wrote a rather long article commemorating Xenite's birthday:
20 Years of Science Fiction and Fantasy: The Many Faces of Xenite.Org. It's a walk down memory combined with a guide to where the content can be found on Xenite today. We still have a lot of content. And we have a lot of memories, so I will understand if you don't read all the way through the article.
And that article only tells part of the story. There is also the story of SF-Fandom, which has been an important part of the Xenite.Org Network. There would be no SF-Fandom if it were not for Xenite because these forums began on Xenite. I look forward to the day we celebrate SF-Fandom's 20th anniversary. I'm only sorry that Dixie won't be able to share that celebration with us in person.
There are many untold or long forgotten stories associated with Xenite. On my personal blog I shared the reasons why I deleted one of the most important, popular sections on Xenite a few years ago:
Sometimes Your Content Is Too Evergreen.
Although at one time I had hoped to do much more to celebrate our 20th anniversary, I'm afraid I ran out of time because I have spent the last few weeks catching up on projects that were deferred or slowed down while I was ill with bronchitis throughout the winter season.
We are looking forward to another 20 years. I don't know what the future will bring but I hope people continue to enjoy visiting our Websites.
Thank you to everyone for being here (and there) for however long you have, and if you're new to our community, do please look around.
