Firaxis announced earlier this year (in February) that they have begun developing the next game in the
Civilization franchise. There isn't much news about the game yet, and only a little bit of speculation.
I tried to play Civ VI but I found it to be too tedious and boring. Firaxis has gone too far to the tactical side for me. I'd prefer they get back to the game's strategic roots.
I probably shouldn't admit this, but I've logged 10,000+ hours playing Civ V (although that includes downtime when I took breaks and left the game running on the PC). I wasn't as fond of Civ V as I was of Civ 3, but Windows' backwards compatibility mode hasn't always allowed me to play Civ 3. I can play it on my current laptop with Windows 11, but it's kind of lost its luster for me after all these years. Also, in my original installation of Civ 3 I was able to create my own scenarios. They haven't worked with the Steam-based version of the game.
Anyway, here's what I've found so far with hints about Civ VII.
