  What do you think of them. Netflix, Disney plus, etc. I believe the programs, movies and cartoons are. sometimes great, but way too expensive in my opinion.

  I agree with you about the expense.
  
  We're currently subscribing to Disney+, Amazon Prime, and Paramount+ to be sure. We accidentally re-subscribed to the NFL network, too.
  
  We've let a couple of paid services go, like Fubo and Netflix. They do have good content but after we've watched everything we want we just don't want to put up with the expense.
  
  A few days ago I saw a promo for a show that's supposed to come out on Netflix in 2024. I don't remember what the show was but I remember thinking I might want to reactivate our subscription so I can watch it.

  I find it’s a pain in the butt. I want to watch the new Frasier episodes and check out the Bass Reeves show they're doing on Paramount. I need to finish the second season of whatever the latest Ghost in the Shell was on Netflix, along with the Onimusha anime they just released. I saw FX is doing a remake of Shogun, so I’ll have to find a way to watch that. Pretty sure there’s another show or two on other services I thought looked interesting. I try to do the free trials and knock out everything in that window, then cancel, but it doesn’t always happen (which is what they’re counting on).

  I don't even bother with free trials. I've yet to try to watch Apple.TV, even though they've had a couple of shows I'd like to see.
  
  I don't like being taken for granted by these studios. They had a much better (i.e., more consumer-friendly) system before all the streaming apps.

  I think YouTube is losing the war against ad blockers, though. But I agree that you can watch a lot of great content on YouTube, whether you pay for it or not.

  If you have Hulu, I believe they're going to release it there.
  
  I'm very excited for this updated version.  I loved the original mini-series.  The books were OK, but the fascination with Medieval Japanese culture was already solidly established.  This looks fantastic, and much more "realistic" version of the story.

  This is very much my problem.  Apple has a TON of shows that I want to watch, but I can't justify another streaming service.  There are also BBC shows that I'd like to see, but again, I'd need another streaming service to get access to them.  There's always a workaround, but I much prefer to stream legitimately, and encourage the creators to create more of the same stuff.

  We've already seen a little bit of consolidation among the major streaming platforms. I guess we'll see some more in the next 1-2 years.
  
  But I'm not hopeful more consolidation will reduce subscription costs. These companies don't seem to care about how expensive they've made life for everyone.

  There's money to be made, and even if they only have one premiere series, like Disney's "The Mandalorian" folk will sign up just for that, and maintain the subscription for the lesser stuff.
