RE: Satanic Panic from 80’s

When I heard about it, the "panic" was a rumor that spread through fundamentalist churches (mostly in the southern United States). I think they're now called charismatic churches (or maybe they're equivalent to evangelicals).
These backwards churches latch on to all sorts of lies and spread them quickly. Another of their favored lies/rumors (in the early 1980s) was that the Procter and Gamble emblem had something to do with Satanism. The emblem consisted of an old man and 13 stars (representing the 13 original states).
The Satanic Panic actually included several bogus rumors, such as the D&D was demonic rumor, the Procter & Gamble rumor, and one about Satanists sacrificing babies or something. None of the rumors were proven to be true, although there were self-proclaimed Satanists who had become (in)famous in the 1960s through 1970s.
